Parents' involvement is essential to their children's academic outcomes,
especially in English language achievement. Previous literature studies also
link if parent involvement will influence students' persistence to achieve good
results in their children's academic outcomes. According to existing literature,
students' persistence also plays a vital role in supporting students' English
achievement. This study investigated the correlation between non-English
speaking parents' involvement and students' persistence toward their English
achievement. This study employed a quantitative correlational survey
conducted at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang involving 119 participants, including
students and their parents, who voluntarily joined this study. This study
showed no correlation between non-English speaking parents' involvement and
students' persistence toward students' English achievement. Some factors
influence why there was no correlation. For instance, in non-English speaking
parents' involvement, lack of knowledge about parents involvement, low selfefficacy, social background status, and low intimate mutual relationship
between parents and school were factors that caused the result from this study.
On the other hand, this study showed persistence was not enough to achieve a
good score, for instance, the strategy, how students deal with the situation and
the knowledge of students relating the tests tested to them.
