Abstract

Lightweight concrete has several advantages, one of which is in terms of its use which is more economical, because it can save installation costs. But lightweight concrete also has one weakness, namely its limited compressive strength value. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of optimum concrete compressive strength and to determine the effect of Bottom Ash as a substitute for fine aggregate and Styrofoam as a substitute for coarse aggregate on the compressive strength of concrete with the value of the design compressive strength Fc 30 Mpa. This study uses a cylindrical test object with 4 variations of the mixture, namely lightweight concrete, concrete with the addition of Bottom Ash 0%, 5%, 10% and 60% Styrofoam. Based on the test results in the laboratory, the optimum concrete compressive strength value was obtained at variations of Bottom Ash 10% and Styrofoam 60% of 16.01 MPa. In this study, the average density values obtained for variations of Bottom Ash 0%, 5%, 10% and Styrofoam 60% were 1,895 kg/m, 1,855 kg/m, 1,840 kg/m. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the effect of adding Bottom Ash 0%, 5%, 10% and 60% Styrofoam can reduce the compressive strength of normal lightweight concrete. This happens because the bottom ash mixture has the property of being easy to agglomerate during the process of mixing the concrete ingredients into the concrete mixer so that it does not fill all the cavities in the concrete.
