Abstract

This study aims to prove empirically the effect of using ceramic shards as a substitute for coarse aggregate on the compressive strength of concrete. This research was conducted at the Concrete Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Indo Global Mandiri University. The research methods used are the literature study method and the experimental method. The types of data used are primary data and secondary data. Samples are made according to the type of test object that has been prepared. The number of types of specimens prepared was as many as 4 types, with each type of specimen consisting of 9 samples, so that a total of 36 samples were obtained. Data processing using Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft Office Word programs to analyze the compressive strength of concrete. The test results of the average compressive strength of normal concrete aged 7 days with a value of 12.19 MPa, aged 14 days with a value of 14.15 MPa, and aged 28 days with a value of 16.55 MPa. The test results of the average compressive strength of concrete with 30% ceramic shard substitution at 7 days old with a value of 11.69 MPa, 14 days old with a value of 15.68 MPa, and 28 days old with a value of 16.89 MPa. The test results of the average compressive strength of concrete with 35% ceramic shard substitution at 7 days old with a value of 12.29 MPa, 14 days old with a value of 15.55 MPa, and 28 days old with a value of 17.02 MPa. The test results of the average compressive strength of concrete with 40% ceramic shard substitution at 7 days old with a value of 12.26 MPa, 14 days old with a value of 16.03 MPa, and 28 days old with a value of 18.51 MPa
