Abstract

Palembang city as the capital of South Sumatra Province is one of the big cities in Indonesia, the population development is very rapid so that the use of private vehicles increases and is one of the factors causing congestion. On the Jalan Doktor Muhammad Isa section, it often experiences traffic jams, especially during commuting and returning from work. This is due to the large number of vehicles passing through this section of the road. This research was conducted to determine traffic performance and provide proposals for proper handling on the Doktor Muhammad Isa road section. The analysis method used in this study is the Indonesian Road Capacity Guideline Method (2014). Traffic performance on the Doktor Muhammad Isa road had the highest traffic volume in 2020, in the first segment of 556 skr / hour and in the second segment of 531 skr / hour. Side obstacles on this road, such as the first segment have a frequency of > 500 with a high side resistance class and in the second segment have a frequency of > 900 with a very high side resistance class. The road capacity in the first segment is 1380 skr / h and in the second segment is 1396 skr / h, with a degree of saturation in both segments > 0.8 and the queue length in the first segment is 81,860 m and the second segment is 81,241 m, as well as the traffic flow speed in the first segment is 42,518 km / h and the second segment is 37.4 km / h. The handling solution for these congestion is to set the hours of entry and exit of heavy vehicles, optimize the awareness of heavy vehicle drivers, change the behavior of private vehicle users who stop on the shoulder of the road, and widen the road
