Abstract
Technological developments in increasing the tensile strength of concrete
isthe addition of fiber. Polypropylene fiber is a type of fiber that can improve the
structural properties of concrete. Besides that, the use of natural materials that are
pozzolanic can be concrete. Fly ash is a pozzolanic material rich in alumina and
silica, derived from coal combustion waste so that it can form binding compounds.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding fiber to the slump
test and the use of fly ash on the setting time of concrete and to determine the effect
of adding polypropylene fiber with a percentage of 0.3%, 0.6%, and 0.9%, and fly
ash 15 % of the tensile strength of concrete. The method used in this study is an
experimental method based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The results
of the slump test show that the use of fiber can increase the viscosity of the fresh
concrete mix. As for the results of the setting time test that the addition of fly ash to
the concrete mix can speed up the concrete setting time. The results of the concrete
tensile strength test at the age of 28 days showed that there was an increase in the
value of the tensile strength of concrete along with the addition of fiber. The optimum
variation with the highest tensile strength value is at a percentage of 0.6% with a
tensile strength of 2.39 MPa.
