Penitentiary has a strategic function as the prison sentence, as well as training or
coaching center for the prisoners. The prisoners in penitentiary get the education
training based on the types of the criminality the person do, for example work
skills development, production work skills to make something, to help the
prisoners to improve themselves and live in the society back. The result of the
training are work skills, or products, such as sandals, ring stone, flower vase
made by newspaper, keychain, etc. Sales, marketing, and the handicraft data
collection haven’t used the technology because the sales and marketing system is
still using the old way, that is by the officer so the scope of the sales and
marketing isn’t really wide. The solutions to this problem is to use technology as a
means to introduce craft products by creating a website-based sales information
system using the prototype method with the PHP (hypertext preprocessor)
programming language. Through this sales website, prisons can reach a much
wider target market, so they can increase the income they earn.
